I believe the unbelievable, I receive the impossible, because it’s doable. — Jesse Duplantis

Bible Promises for Today

One promise from God for each day of the month, all in the King James Version. Find today's verse at the top, read it slowly, and carry it with you.

Today's promise

Your promise for today:

It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV)

Read it twice, once in your head and once out loud. Then ask yourself one question: where do I need this today? Keep that answer in mind as you go.

Why a fixed list of 31

Many sites promise a fresh Bible verse for today. This page is honest about how it works.

A simple web page like this one cannot know what kind of day you are having. It only knows the date on your phone or computer. So instead of pretending to pick a verse just for you, it shows the promise set for today's date. The 31 promises below never change. On the 1st of every month you see Day 1, on the 2nd you see Day 2, and so on. If your browser blocks scripts, you will see Lamentations 3:22 to 23 at the top instead, and the whole list is still here to read.

We think that is a feature. Next month on the same date, you meet the same promise again. Read this page every day for a year and you will have gone through most of these verses twelve times. That is how promises move from the page into your memory.

Psalm 46:1 in the King James Version: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

How these 31 were chosen

Each one is a promise: something God said He would do, or something He said is true of Him that you can lean on. Each one is short enough to read before you leave the house.

They come from all over the Bible, from Genesis in the Old Testament to 1 Peter in the New, and they are mixed on purpose, so one week is not all Psalms and the next all Paul. A plain line of our own sits under each verse to help you hold it.

All 31 Bible promises, one for each day

    Nahum 1:7 (KJV)

A strong hold is a safe place to run. God knows the ones who trust Him.

  12. Day 12

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Paul asked three times for a weakness to be taken away. This was the answer.

  13. Day 13

Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Sarah laughed when she heard this promise. At the set time, she held her son.

  14. Day 14

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

  16. Day 16

Mountains can move. God's kindness toward you will not.

  17. Day 17

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Where your mind rests today will shape how your heart feels tonight.

  23. Day 23

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

  24. Day 24

  25. Day 25

  27. Day 27

Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

Ways to use a daily promise

2 Peter 1:4 in the King James Version: “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

Morning. Open this page with your coffee. Read the verse and the line under it. Say a short prayer that starts with the promise, something like Lord, You said this. I am counting on it today.

Midday. Take a screenshot of the verse and set it as your lock screen. Every time you check the time, you see what God said.

Evening. Before bed, think back over the day. Where did you see this promise at work? Where did you need it and forget it? Thank God for one thing.

With others. Send today's verse to one person who needs it. A promise passed along often lands at just the right moment for someone else.

If you want to go deeper with one verse, our guide to a promises of God devotional shows a five step way to pray a promise through.

When today's promise does not seem to fit

Some mornings you will open this page and the verse will feel far from your life. You may be grieving and the promise is about guidance. You may be tired and it is about temptation. That is all right. Read it anyway, because it is still true, and then look for the promise you need.

Our pages on comfort and grief, strength and peace gather the verses for those days. If you are carrying something heavy, keep talking to people who love you and to your doctor too. Reaching for help is not a lack of faith.

Common questions

What is a good Bible verse for today?

Any promise of God that meets you where you are is a good verse for today. This page gives you one for each date, so you do not have to choose. If something else is weighing on you, browse the promises by topic and pick the one that fits.

How does this page pick today's verse?

It uses the day of the month from your own device. On the 5th you see the promise for Day 5, on the 22nd the promise for Day 22. The list is fixed and repeats every month, so you can come back to a verse you liked on the same date next month.

Are there 365 promises of God, one for each day of the year?

The Bible holds enough promises to fill a year of mornings and more. This page keeps it simpler with 31, one for each day of the month. If you want a fresh promise every day for a year, the Every Promise of God books give each promise its own page, in Bible order.

Are these verses from the King James Bible?

Yes. All 31 come from the King James Version, and each one is checked against two separate copies of that text before the page is built.

What if the month has fewer than 31 days?

Then a day or two at the end of the list will not come up that month. You can read them anyway. Nothing on this page is lost if you skip ahead or go back.
